We’re design nerds, detail freaks, and big dreamers — pushing boundaries to shape spaces that think differently.
Meet our Founder & Creative Director
Sara Esnaashari
Sara is more than a designer — she’s a creative force with a fearless point of view. Restless by nature, she’s constantly pushing boundaries, turning bold ideas into beautifully livable spaces.

With over a decade of global experience, Sara has called many places home. Her design perspective is shaped by a life of constant movement — inspired by everything from the world’s greatest museums to its most unexpected corners. She believes inspiration is infinite when you stay curious. She thinks big and pulls ideas from everywhere — not just trends. Her work blends cultural influences with an intuitive sense of proportion, flow, and form.

She believes in originality. Her spaces are layered with intention — thoughtful in flow, rich in texture, and unapologetically personal. She curates materials like stories, using light, layout, and tone to create homes that feel gathered, not manufactured.

Constantly learning and deeply invested in the craft, she’s most at home on-site — asking questions, solving problems, and covered in drywall dust. And she wouldn’t have it any other way.

Arash Jalvan

A graduate of the Capital University of Economics and Business, Arash has lived in China for more than two decades and is fluent in Chinese, English, and Farsi. From large-scale factory production to one-of-a-kind construction components, he oversees every detail of the supply chain with unmatched precision and insight.

Though based in Toronto, Arash travels frequently to Shanghai, where his deep understanding of the local culture, language, and manufacturing landscape ensures that nothing gets lost in translation. Known as the heart of our operations, Arash brings both technical expertise and cultural fluency to everything we do, building lasting partnerships and delivering excellence from factory floor to final installation.

Ten Tsu (Nico) Huang
Design Coordinator
A graduate of Ontario College of Art & Design, Nico started his career in Graphic Design, working in branding and packaging at well-established Canadian companies: Spin Master toys, Roots Canada, Rogers Communications. He also had a 7-year tenure working abroad (Shanghai) in leading design studios.

He brings a truly global perspective and sensitivity to each project, having lived and worked in North & South America, and Asia for extended periods of time.

At Esna Studio, he assists our founder with the day-to-day operations of the firm, including all aspects of the design process, site visits, marketing initiatives, and liaising with our Shanghai office.

Off the clock, he enjoys exploring the city and trails on his bike, going on walks with his dog Chiquita, and Value Village is practically his second home.

Yuka Yao
Sourcing Director
From day one, Yuka has played a key role in shaping ESNA Studio into what it is today. As our Sourcing Director, she leads the Shanghai office and oversees all product sourcing with a steady hand and a sharp eye. Her deep knowledge of factories, materials, and production timelines makes her an essential link between design vision and delivered reality.

Yuka is trusted not only for her expertise, but for her reliability, precision, and ability to find exactly what’s needed - no matter how custom or complex the request. She’s a calm force behind the scenes, ensuring that every project begins with the right foundation.
